RAMS & CDM Overview
RAMS & CDM Overview
The RAMS & CDM module provides a comprehensive health and safety management system covering Risk Assessment Method Statements, CDM 2015 regulatory compliance, toolbox talks, incident reporting, and a pre-seeded hazard library. This paid addon is available at +£99/month and is designed for organisations operating under UK construction and events safety regulations.
Key Concepts
A RAMS document is a structured five-section document that covers hazard identification, method statements, emergency procedures, PPE requirements, and digital signatures. Each document follows a defined workflow and is built around a quantified risk assessment methodology.
- Risk Matrix — a 5×5 matrix scoring Likelihood (1–5) against Severity (1–5), producing a risk score from 1 to 25
- Hierarchy of Controls — the HSE-standard five-tier approach: Elimination, Substitution, Engineering Controls, Administrative Controls, and PPE (last resort)
- Initial vs Residual Risk — risks are scored before and after control measures are applied, measuring the effectiveness of mitigation
Document Workflow
Every RAMS document progresses through a defined lifecycle:
- Draft — document is being authored and can be freely edited
- Under Review — submitted for approval by a designated reviewer
- Approved — formally signed off and ready for briefing
- Briefed — crew members have been briefed and have acknowledged the document
- Archived — document is no longer active but retained for audit purposes
Auto-Number Formats
All documents are automatically assigned unique reference numbers upon creation:
- RAMS-2025-0042 — Risk Assessment Method Statement
- INC-2025-0042 — Incident Report
- F10-2025-0042 — F10 HSE Notification
- CPP-2025-0042 — Construction Phase Plan
CDM 2015 Compliance
The module supports full compliance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015. This includes F10 notifications to the Health and Safety Executive, duty holder role assignments for principal contractor and principal designer, and construction phase plan management. CDM features are integrated directly into the project workflow.
